These practices often occur in a regulatory gray area: while AI-specific laws remain limited, the underlying data in these systems—often scraped or purchased from consumer sources—is still subject to privacy, labor, and civil rights laws. This mismatch creates risks for job seekers and workers, particularly those from historically marginalized groups.
We believe it’s vital to bridge the gap between technical practices and legal protections through education, community discussion, and collective advocacy. Whether through regular digital programming or our open community forums, we aim to ensure that people understand how these systems impact them—and what can be done about it.
